I keep receiving junk mail that I beleive someone signed me up for as a joke. How can I stop receiving it. (it’s not costing anything, it’s just annoying)

it is really irritating, sorting everyones mail out and keeping their mail for several months until I run into them again.

by the way, destroying someones mail is illegal, so i will not destroy their mail, also some of the mail contains sensitive information because they receive bills at my house too, they say that they pay their bills online so they dont really care about that either.
I want to stop junk mail all the credit pre approved applications and also wanted to know if i should shred every piece of unsolicted mail, would that be the best thing to do?
I receive junk mail all the time, how come it’s not sent to my bulk email. Then once I mark an email spam & still continue to get the same email from the same persons. I thought once marked spam it is then blocked.
Is there a list, kind of like the do not call list, to put your email address on so you will stop getting them…or is it too late and I’ll have to go through the hassel of changing my email address?
Is there any way I can stop junk mail from a certain company, such as a written request that is required by law to work?
